TIPS FOR HEALTHY NAILS

No matter how much you like experimenting with your enamel color, it won’t make them look unless you have a sturdy and healthy nail within. Extensions and prosthetic nails are also an option. But at the end of the day, you would have to show your real nails off. Unless you have a healthy skin, the makeup won’t look flawless and real. In the same way, if you don’t have healthy and hydrated nails within, coating can’t make them look beautiful for a long time.

Our nails explain our personality and body health. Chapped nails are signs of poor diet. Brittle nails would call for more calcium substitutes in your food. Matte (non-shiny) nails would show the lack of hydration in your body.  And yellow nails would show the absence of nails care and sunlight on body.

Well, it’s not really tough to maintain strong, non-brittle, shinny nails. Here are few tips that you can use to make your toes look polished, clean and shiny:

1. KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN FOR THE NAIL POLISH BRAND

It is very important to look at the ingredients of your nail paint. Stay away from nail paints that have dibutyl phthalate, formaldehyde, and toluene in them. These chemicals are not only toxic, but also adds on to the brittleness, chapping and decolouration of the nails.

2. OLIVE OIL MASSAGE BEFORE BED

Olive oil is a magic potion for human body. Apart from being of utmost benefit for hair, skin and eyes, it does miracle for nails. Soak your finger tips in slightly warm virgin olive oil for 10-15 minutes. After that massage it on the nails and tips of fingers in circular motion. This provides strength, nourishment & moisturization to the nails. This also helps to give nourishment to the cuticle which makes your nails grow faster and sturdier.

3. BEWARE OF DETERGENTS

We can’t really get away with not washing clothes or doing dishes in our daily routine. But detergents cause a lot of damage to the nail enamel which leads to lack of shine and brittleness. Thus, try to work with detergent with your gloves on. This would not only protect your nail cuticle form getting damaged, but would also protect your hands becoming rough and dehydrated.

4. DON’T FORGET THE BASE COAT

Its very crucial to put a base coat of transparent enamel before putting on your nail paint. This would protect your nails from getting unnecessarily stained. Base coat also protects the nails form the harmful chemicals that we touch every day. When we use alcoholic sanitizers, it clears up the bacterial load of the hands. But as a side effect, it leaves the hands and specially nails dehydrated.   

5. HYDRATION IS THE KEY

Water has many benefits for human body. It makes our digestion good, hair healthier, skin plumper and weight maintenance. Another feather in its hat is healthier nails. Drinking ample amount of water makes the cuticle nourished which leads to better hair growth. When your body lacks proper hydration then nails tend to peel off or become brittle. Good amount of water makes the nails strong, flexible and shinier.

6. DON’T BITE THEM OFF

Though it’s quite common to not bite the nails off for better shaped nails. But chewing your nails would not only affect your stomach badly, but would also make your nails grow weirdly. Its always advised to wither cut them with a sharp nail cutter or file them with a hygienic filer.

7. EAT PROTEINS FOR NAILS

Nails are made up of keratin (kind of protein) that is maintained by the amount of protein in your diet. If you want to have healthier nails, take protein rich diet. Eggs, pulses, dicots and fish gets you high dosages of protein. This helps you solve your skin, hair, bones and nails problems in a single go.
